Dhaka: A union-level leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been beaten to death by a group of attackers in Mymensingh’s Trishal, say police.

The deceased, Chan Miyan, was Trishal’s Dhanikhola union BNP general secretary.

Police said that the attackers came inside Chan Miyan’s residence on Thursday evening and beat him indiscriminately with iron rods leaving him fatally injured. The BNP leader died on the way to hospital.

Trishal police sub-inspector Hafiz said one Fazal Miyan was held for his suspected link in the attack.
