Bangladesh unblocks Twitter, Skype, Viber, Imo, WhatsApp
Dhaka: A day after censoring, the Bangladesh government on Monday lifted the blockade on social networking site Twitter and online communication services Skype, Viber, WhatsApp and Imo.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim confirmed this to NTV over phone on Monday.
The government on Sunday blocked three online communication services—Twitter, Skype and Imo—showing security concerns just after three days the blockade on Facebook was lifted.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) sent letters to mobile phone operators and International Internet Gateway (IIG) operators of the country on Sunday evening directing them to halt the services immediately.
Earlier, on 18 November, the BTRC suspended the operation of social networking platform Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Viber for security reasons.
