Chittagong: A man was killed and at least five others injured in an explosion of a balloon-gas cylinder at a Victory Day fair at Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong on Wednesday noon, reports UNB.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Boalkhali police officer-in-charge Shamsul Islam said the explosion of the balloon-gas cylinder took place at about 1:00pm at the Victory Day fair organised on Poschim Gundondi High School premises, leaving a man dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Three among the injured were children below the age of 10.
