‘Land management policy reform soon’

State Minister for Land Shamsur Rahman Sharif on Friday said the country’s land management policy will be reformed soon, aiming to resolve the land disputes relating to ethnic minorities in the plains.
‘A change has been brought in land management… the land management policy will be reformed soon,’ he said at a discussion at the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) auditorium in the capital.
Speaking as the chief guest, Sharif said a vested quarter is active to grab the lands of ethnic minorities who live in poverty, but the general people are against the land grabbers.
‘If the land management system is modernised, transparency will be brought in the land sector, minimising corruption and irregularities,’ he said.
Convener of Parliamentary Caucus on Indigenous Peoples Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, its member Prof Mesbah Kamal and secretary of Law and Justice Division Abu Saleh Sk Md Zahirul Haque, among others, also spoke at the discussion.
