Dhaka: The car of Ganajagaran Manch spokesperson Imran H Sarkar came under egg attack on Sunday while he was leaving Dhaka court after hearing on a case filed for his derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A group of men threw eggs towards his car at the court premises. The attackers chanted slogans in favour of Awami League at that time, said witnesses.

Earlier, the court granted him permanent bail in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman passed the bail order after Imran and Sanatan surrendered before the court in the morning and filed a bail petition through their lawyer Jibanananda Chandra Joyonta.

Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Golam Rabbani filed the defamation case against the duo with the court on May 31.

According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on May 27 over the removal of the statue of Lady Justice from the Supreme Court premises.

On May 26, the SC authorities removed the statue, made by sculptor Mrinal Haque.
