Dhaka: Members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) caught AKM Fakhrul Islam, chief engineer of the Department of Shipping (DoS), red-handed while taking bribe at his Motijheel office on Tuesday.

ACC director Nasim Anwar said a team of the Commission went to the office of Fakhrul and arrested him while taking Tk 5 lakh as bribe from Badrul Alam, an employee of Bangle Marine Engineer Services, around 2 pm.

"Fakhrul was taking the money with a commitment to approve the design of a ship of the company," said Nasim.

He was later taken to Motijheel Police Station.
