Comilla: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday alleged that a fair election under Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda is very difficult as he is a 'partisan' person.

"You (Huda) are not the Chief Election Commissioner of the country but of Awami League," he said.

Rizvi came up with the comment while talking to journalists at BNP office in the city after appearing before a court here in a violence case.

He slammed the CEC for his recent remark that a credible election is possible under the current government, saying he is talking like Awami League leaders.

The BNP leader voiced concern over the outbreak of Chikungunya due to the government's 'failure' to eradicate mosquitoes and take proper step to contain it.

"Though a huge number of people across the country are being affected with Chikungunya, the government is not willing to call it epidemic to hide its failure to check the disease," he observed.

He alleged that several hundred crores of Taka that have been allocated for carrying out mosquito-killing drive is being looted by the ruling party men.

Chikungunya has spread fast in the capital with the start of monsoon this year. According to the World Heath Organization (WHO), Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes causing fever and severe joint pain.
