Govt, opponent parties to reach consensus over polls, hopes CEC
Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Monday hoped that the government and the opposition political parties, including those now out of parliament, will be able to reach a consensus over the next general election.
‘I think the messages of people and civil society members will reach the government and the opposition parties, including those now out of parliament. I hope, they’ll reach an understanding,’ he said, reports the UNB.
Talking to reporters after a dialogue with civil society members at the conference room of Election Building in Dhaka, he said the talks will have an impact on the government and the political parties to reach an understanding over the next polls.
He said they will publish a report containing the suggestions of all the civil society members who joined the dialogue by December or January next.
The copies of the report will also be sent to the government and the opposition parties, he said.
