Brahmanbaria: Two suspected extortionists were beaten to death and another was injured by an angry mob in Bhelanagar village under Bancharampur upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

One of the deceased is Jibon Mia.

Bancharampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Angshu Kumar Deb said three suspected robbers went to the house of Amir Mia of the village to collect their demanded Tk 5 lakh extortion in the afternoon.

On information, angry locals rushed to the spot and gave the trio a severe thrashing, leaving two of them dead on the spot and severely injured another.

The injured is Kamal Mia from Gosaipur village under Nabinagar upazila.

Jibon Mia was accused in several robbery cases, police claimed.
