HC for making law to govern private educational institutions

Dhaka: The High Court (HC) on Wednesday ordered the government to formulate, within the next one year, a particular act to govern the private educational institutions.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice A.K.M. Zahirul Hoque passed the order while disposing of a rule issued in this regard.
The court also ordered to submit report on compliance of the order. The public interest petition was filed in 2012 by senior Supreme Court lawyer ABM Nurul Islam.
"Corruption, irregularities and willfulness in education sector are taking place in the absence of a specific act. The education activities are going on as per the directive of the concerned ministry, which is contrary to article 152 of the constitution," advocate Islam said.
