A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered two-day remand for a self-proclaimed sage accused of blackmailing young women under Communications Technology (ICT) Act 2006 and Pornography Control Act 2012.

The man, Ahsan Habib Piar, allegedly made physical relation with women claiming safeguarding them from jinns and ghosts and secretly captured videos to blackmail them.

Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate AKM Moyeen Uddin Siddiqui gave the order.

The cybercrime unit of the Counter Terrorism department of the police arrested Piar on Tuesday at Khilgaon area of Dhaka city.

Police said, Piar introduced him as a TV journalist and gained popularity through his YouTube channel through posting videos based on religion.

Police arrested him after a number of victims filed cases against him with Khilgaon Police Station.
