Bhola: An Awami League-backed councillor candidate for the Borhanuddin municipality elections was left badly wounded by miscreants who failed to kidnap him on Thursday night.

The victim was identified as Md Salauddin Ponchayet, a councillor candidate of Ward no.4 in Borhanuddin municipality, reports UNB.

Locals said miscreants tried to kidnap Salauddin by giving him a drug at about 10:00pm.

Failing to kidnap him miscreants beat him up and later dumped him near Balur Math.

Later, police rescued him and sent him to the Borhanuddin Upazila Health Complex first, before he was shifted to Sadar Hospital on early Friday.

Borhanuddin police sub-inspector Rofiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
