Keraniganj: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the city’s Purba Kadamtali area on Friday night.

On secret information, the members of elite force launched a drive at the den of drug dealer Imran in Wasa area around 9:15 pm.

Sensing the presence of the RAB, Imran and his associates opened fire on them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, said officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station Wazed Ali.

At one stage of the gunfight, Imran was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.

Later, his body was handed over to police around 11:30 pm, said the OC adding that Imran was wanted in some 11 cases filed with several police stations.
