Three shown arrested in domestic help’s murder case in city

Dhaka: Three people, including a woman, have been shown arrested in a case filed over death of a domestic help in the city's Banasree area.

The arrestees are Moin Uddin, owner of the house, his wife and caretaker Kamal.

Victim's brother-in-law Shahidul Islam filed the case with Khilgaon Police Station on Friday night naming three people of them as accused and without naming 2-3 others, said Nadira Jui, assistant commissioner (Khilgaon Zone) of Police.

Earlier on Friday, police detained them for interrogation.

Meanwhile, police filed another case in connection with an attack on law enforcers during the violence in the area.

Khilgaon Police Station SI Manjur lodged the case against 400 to 500 people with 36 names cited, said SI Mansur, duty officer of the police station.

Laily, 22, wife of Nazrul Islam, hailing from Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district, used to work as a part-time domestic help at house-14/4 of Block-G, owned by Moin Uddin, of the residential area allegedly committed suicide at his house on Friday morning.

The death of the domestic sparked angry protest in the area on Friday afternoon as locals alleged that the domestic help was killed in a planned way.

The angry locals ransacked the house, torched a vehicle and damaged a dozen following the death.
