Chittagong: At least nine rice warehouses, goods of three rice mills and three flour mills were burned to ashes on Saturday night at Chaktai retail market in the district.

A total of 12 units of local fire service and civil defence brought the flame under control after seven hours of frantic efforts around 11:30 am, said fire control room.

Deputy Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service Mohammad Jashim Uddin said a three-member probe committee has been formed to find out the reasons behind the fire and assess the damage caused by it.
