Dhaka: Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood on Sunday said if probes into graft allegations are conducted thoroughly, it will be quite possible to convict graft suspects in all cases filed by the Commission, which in turn will fulfill the expectations of the common people.

"The Commission files all cases based on documentary evidence. There is no scope to file graft cases based on perception," he said while addressing a meeting with the ACC officials at its head office here.

Asking his officials to complete inquiries and investigations against graft suspects within the stipulated time period set by the ACC, Mahmood directed them to submit their probe reports to the Commission indentifying the responsibility of suspects behind the corruption.

He also asked ACC officials to take legal action as per the section of 19 (3) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004, if someone impedes any investigation or inquiry by not supplying information or documents to the Commission.

The ACC chief said all the accused who are yet to surrender before court in graft cases must be brought to justice.

ACC commissioners Dr Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed and AFM Aminul Islam, among others, spoke at the meeting.
