Four get death for killing old woman

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Monday convicted four persons and sentenced them to death for killing a 70-year-old woman, Ayesha Begum, at Dohar area in Dhaka in 2008.
The convicts are Rajon Khan, Shahanaj Begum, Sumon Boyati and Fazal alias Foyjal.
Eighth additional district and session court’s Judge Ahsan Tarik handed down the verdict in presence of the four convicted.
The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each.
According to Public Prosecutor ATM Gulzar Hossain, deceased Ayesha went missing on September 13, 2008 in Shutarpara village of Dohar upazila. On the next day, body of Ayesha was recovered.
Abdul Kuddus, the deceased’s son, filed a murder case with Dodar Police in this connection.
Dohar police Sub-Inspector (SI) investigated the case and issued a charge sheet accusing the four persons.
The probe report found that they killed the old woman for grabbing her money and jewellery.
