Man held with 35 gold bars at Benapole
Benapole: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler along with 35 gold bars from Putkhali border here on Tuesday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Momin, in his thirties, a resident of Ulashi village in Sharsha upazila.
Lieutenant Colpm Tariqul Hakim, commanding officer of BGB-21 battalion, said that on secret information, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Momin along with gold bars worth Tk 1.40 crore.
They also seized his motorbike, said the BGB official.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station.
