Khoka, six others indicted in graft case

Dhaka: A court here on Sunday framed charges against former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allotting space illegally at Dhaka Trade Centre.

Judge Dr. Md. Akhteruzzaman of Dhaka Special Court no-5 passed the order and fixed September 21 to start recording depositions of the witnesses in the case.

The other accused DCC officials are Motaleb Hossain, Faruk Hossain, Bacchu Miah, Md Ali, Sahabuddin Sabu and Mohsin Uddin Morol.

Among the accused, Khoka and Sabu remained absconding.

Besides, the court also issued arrest warrant against Motaleb and Faruk cancelling their bail as they were not present at the court.

According to case statement, the accused people allotted open space for shops in front of Dhaka Trade Center in capital's Gulistan area illegally on September 13, 2009.

Later, Mahbubul Alam, assistant commissioner of ACC filed the case against seven of them on 24 August 2014.

ACC submitted chargesheet on September 22, 2015.
