Kurigram: Miscreants set the Awami League office in Ulipur upazila afire on Sunday midnight, two days ahead of the municipal polls across the country, including polls to Ulipur municipality.

Sources said a group of miscreants set fire to some billboards and a television set in the office at about 12:00midnight, reports UNB.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and extinguished the fire.

Later, police arrested four people in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, general secretary of upazila unit Awami League Golam Hossain on Monday filed a case against 30 people, including BNP upazila unit president Haidar Ali Mian, for their involvement the incident, said Jamir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ulipur Police Station.
