Sale of advance train ticket for Eid trips begins

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Railway started selling advance tickets for the Eid holidaymakers on Friday.

Long queues of holidaymakers were seen at the Kamalapur railway station as ticket sale began at 8:00 am. Each passenger is allowed to buy maximum four tickets.

Tickets for August 27 journeys are available on August 18 while for August 28 on August 19, for August 29 on August 20, for August 30 on August 21 and August 31 for August 22.

Besides, the return tickets for the journeys of September 3 will be available on August 25, and for September 4 on August 26, for September 5 on August, for September 6 on August 28 and for September 7 on August 29.

Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque on Thursday said seven pairs of special trains will run on various routes from August 27 to August 31 before Eid and September 3 to 7 after Eid.

These trains are Dewanganj Special (Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka), Chandpur Special-1 and Chandpur Special-2 (ChittagongChandpur-Chittagong), Parbatipur Special (Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur) and Rajshahi Special (Rajshahi-Dhaka-Rajshahi).

Besides, two trains—Kishoreganj Special-1 (Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhairab) and Kishoreganj Special-2 (MymensinghKishoreganj-Mymensingh) will run on the Eid day for Sholakia eid jamaat, said the minister.

Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed for preventing ticket sale on the black market.

Meanwhile, plying of Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka Moitree train will remain suspended from September 1-4 due to the Eid.
