Dhaka: Alleging that conspiracies are on against the country and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Saturday described BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as the ‘mastermind’ of the plots.

He came up with the allegation while addressing a human chain organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the Jatiya Press Club in the city marking the National Mourning Day.

Nasim alleged that after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabadhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975, no one of the governments of Khandaker Mostaque Ahmed, Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and HM Ershad brought the killers under trial. ‘Rather, they rewarded the killers with many facilities but Sheikh Hasina brought them to justice.’

A vested quarter also tried to kill Sheikh Hasina but could not succeed, he said.

The minister said people will have to decide whether they will elect Sheikh Hasina again to continue development for the country’s betterment or elect those who are plotting against the country.

Members of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, actors, journalists, singers and hundreds of common people participated in the human chain programme presided over by State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim.

Actress Shomi Kaiser, actor Bapparaj, and journalists Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Shyamal Dutt, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The speakers called for bringing back the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu and execute the verdict.
