Dhaka: A police constable was arrested in the capital on Saturday night on charge of raping his colleague.

Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam, also duty officer of Shahjanpur Police Station, said that a female constable filed a rape case against Ariful Islam, posted at Rajarbagh Police Lines, with the police station at about 8:30pm.

Later, police arrested Ariful at night.

According to the case statement, Ariful took the female colleague to a hotel 'Hotel Mouchak' in Malibag area a month ago and then raped her there.

However, the victim has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for medical test, the SI added.
