150 Faridpur villages still submerged
Faridpur: More than one lakh people living in three upazilas of the district were marooned by the floodwater as the Padma River was still flowing 88cm above the danger level.
Deputy assistant engineer of Faridpur Water Development Board Zahirul Islam said the water level of the Padma decreased 8cm in the last 24 hours but it was still flowing 88cm above the danger mark.
The mighty Padma has inundated 150 villages in 14 unions in Sadar, Char Bhadrason and Sadarpur upazilas.
Umme Salma Tanzia, deputy commissioner of Faridpur, said 150 tonnes of rice and Tk 3.60 lakh have been allocated for flood-affected people in the district.
‘We are providing relief items among people in the flood-hit areas.’
