Benapole: A schoolgirl was raped allegedly by a young man at Belta village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Monday.

Police, quoting the victim, said Qamrul Islam picked up the girl, a class V student of Belta Government Primary School, from a field near her house when she went there to bring goats back home in the afternoon.

Qamrul took the girl to the room of an irrigation pump machine in the field and raped her.

Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her but Qamrul managed to flee the scene.
The victim was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital.

Sharsha police officer-in-charge Maniruzzaman confirmed the incident.

A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
