Dhaka: A young man was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in Jurain graveyard area of Dhaka in the early hours of Tuesday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. He was around 30 years old, claimed police.

The Shyampur police sub-inspector (SI) Mahbubul Haque said the young man received bullet during a reported gunfight with a team of detectives in the Jurain graveyard area at about 2:00am. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at about 4:00am.

The SI said the man was in shirt and jeans pant. The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.

However, SI could not say details about the gunfight.
