Army to be deployed if deemed necessary: CEC
Gazipur: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Tuesday said the Army will be deployed in the next national polls if the Election Commission feels the necessity for it.
‘Although all political parties have their observations, Army will be deployed in the next national polls if the Election Commission feels it necessary,’ he told reporters after a discussion programme at Kapasia in the district.
He planted a tree and visited a voter list update centre in front of the upazila EC office.
‘We want all political parties' participation in the general election and we will ensure free and fair polls if every party takes part in the polls,’ he added.
Deputy Commissioner Dewan Muhammad Humahun Kabir presided over the discussion programme where superintendent of police Md Harun Ur Rashid, local EC officer Rakib Uddin Mand were present among others.
