Voting at 2 polling stations in Kalkini suspended

Voting at a two polling stations of Kalkini municipality in Madaripur was suspended. Returning Officer Md. Alauddin Mia ordered to shut down the polling stations after a few ballot papers with sealed on Boat symbol has been seized ahead of the voting.
The officer said an executive magistrate seized 530 ballot papers sealed on boat symbol at the south Janardandi polling station in the municipality, and 800 ballot papers at Kasthoghar polling stations.
The other polling stations in the municipality are open for voting.
According to EC’s statistics, 12,171 candidates – 945 mayoral, some 8,746 general councillor and over 2,480 women councillor contenders in reserved seats – are contesting the polls for 3,158 posts that include 234 mayoral, 727 women (reserved seats) councillor and 2,182 general councillor posts in the election.
