Man killed in Shatkania gunfight

Chittagong: A man was shot dead in a gunfight between two rival groups at Shatkania municipality in Chittagong during the polling on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Nurul Amin. Both Juba Dal and Juba League claimed Nurul as their activist.
The Satkania police said supporters of two councillor candidates involved in a clash in front of Satkania College polling centre at about 10:30am.
The Satkania police sub-inspector Julus Khan said Nurul Amin got shot during the gunfight. Later he was taken to local health complex where doctors declared him death.
The SI said, Nurul Amin was the supporter of Awami League-endorsed mayoral candidate Mohammad Zobayer.
However, upazila BNP president Mohammad Mohiuddin said Nurul Amin was an activist of Juba Dal while Zobayer’s chief electoral agent Biplob Barua claimed Nurul as a Juba League activist.
Witnesses said Nurul Amin was not a political activist. He came to the polling station to cast his vote in the morning.
