Faridpur: A young man killed mother and niece by slitting their throats at Kamargram of Boalmari municipality in Faridpur early on Tuesday.

Mohammad Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Boalmari Police Station, said that Shishir, in his thirties, along with her mother, aged around sixty years, and three-year-old niece Sraboni, resident of Jhenidah, used to live in a rented house owned by Bibhtu Bhushan Saha in the area.

Shishir confessed to police that he pushed injection to her mother and niece and slaughtered them early in the morning.

Later, he tried to commit suicide and received critical injuries.

On information, police recovered the bodies and arrested Shishir from the house around 9:30am.

Shishir, who worked for a private company, had been suffering from depression for long, added the OC.
