Khaleda Zia also greets Sheikh Hasina on Eid-ul-Azha
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in London, on Thursday sent an eid greeting card to her arch rival Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Sheikh Hasina also sent Khaleda Zia a similar card on Wednesday on the occasion.
On behalf of Khaleda Zia, three BNP assistant office secretaries, led by Taiful Islam Tipu, handed over the card to ex-Awami League assistant office secretary Sikandar Ali at the party president's Dhanmondi office at about 12:00pm.
Talking to news agency UNB, Tipu said their chairperson wished the Awami President a happy Eid-ul-Azha. "We've handed over an eid greeting card to her Dhanmondi office on behalf of our leader."
On Wednesday, a four-member Awami League delegation, led by Sikandar Ali, handed over an eid card to BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at about 12:30pm at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across Bangladesh on Saturday.
Khaleda Zia who went to London on July 15 for medical treatment is likely to return home after celebrating the Eid there with her family members.
