Sunamganj: At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two factions of BNP over observing the founding anniversary Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in Dharmapasha upazila headquarters in Sunamganj on Friday, reports local news agency.

Local people said the supporters of Abdul Motalik, upazila chairman and a local Chhatra Dal leader, brought out a procession around 11:30 am, marking the founding anniversary of JCD.

When the procession reached Purba Bazar area, the supporters of BNP central committee member Rafique Chowdhury swooped on the procession, triggering a clash that left 15 people from both sides injured.

The injured were taken to Dharmapasha Upazila Health Complex.

The Dharmapasha police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
