President reaches Kazakhstan to attend OIC Summit
Astana, Kazakhstan: President M Abdul Hamid reached Astana on Saturday, the capital of Kazakhstan, to attend ‘The First Summit of the OIC on Science and Technology’ to be held on September 10-11.
‘On his arrival at Astana Nazarbayev International Airport at about 8.25pm (local time), the President and his entourage were warmly received by Minister for Justice of Kazakhstan Marat Beketayev and First Deputy Mayor of Astana Sergei Mikailovich,’ President Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin said, reports BSS.
Earlier, a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President and his entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal ® International Airport for Kazakhstan at 2.45 pm.
President Hamid is leading the Bangladesh delegation, comprising officials from the Office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology, to the two-day summit.
Abdul Hamid will deliver his speech at the OIC summit which is expected to discuss and adopt OIC Ten-Year Action Plan on Science and Technology ‘OIC STI Agenda 2026’, he said.
On the sidelines, the President is expected to have a bilateral meeting with his Kazakh counterpart and some of other counterparts from participating 57 member states.
The President is expected to return home on September 12, the press secretary added.
