Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Monday said the government is making all-out efforts for Rohingya people who are fleeing from violence in the western Rakhine state of Myanmar.

‘The government is working as per its own policy over Rohingya crisis,’ he told newsmen after attending the governing body meeting of MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in Sylhet, reports the BSS.

The minister said, ‘We are demanding that it is necessary to create a (safe) zone for Rohingya people in Myanmar.’

About the BNP's remarks of waging movement over Rohingya issue, Muhith said if any party wants to do anything, it is their party's decision.

‘The government will handle the matter in its own way,’ he added.

Former Bangladesh Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations Dr AK Abdul Momen, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital Director Brigadier General AK Mahbubul Haque, Osmani Medical College Principal Dr Morshed Ahmad Chowdhury, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Dr Nazmanara Khanum, Sylhet Range DIG Md Kamrul Ahsan, Sylhet Press Club President Ikramul Kabir and Sylhet District Bar President Advocate Md Lala were present on the occasion, among others.
