Assistant burnt as bus torched in Joypurhat
Joypurhat: A bus driver’s assistant suffered burn injuries as miscreants torched his vehicle at a bus stand in Akkelpur upazila in the early hours of Sunday.
The injured is Ratan, a resident of Islampur village in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district.
Akkelpur police officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad said miscreants set ablaze two buses parked near a petrol station by pouring petrol early in the morning.
Ratan, who was sleeping inside his bus, sustained burn injuries in the arson attack.
He was first admitted to the upazila health complex and later shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
The attackers also vandalised another bus and exploded two crude bombs at that time.
They fled on a motorcycle being chased by transport workers.
