Savar: Irked over his love proposal being rejected, a stalker allegedly hacked a schoolgirl indiscriminately in front of her house at Bank Colony in the Savar municipality area on Saturday.

Immediately after the incident, locals chased the stalker Aminul Islam and caught him with a sharp knife and handed him over to police after giving him a good beating.

Mohsinul Qadir, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said Aminul Islam allegedly hacked the schoolgirl indiscriminately in front of her house in the morning, leaving her injured critically.

The injured schoolgirl—Ila Rahman, about 14 years old, a class VIII student of Modern Kindergarten School—was admitted to Savar Upazila Health Complex.

On information, a team of police from Savar Model Police Station visited the spot.

A case was filed against the stalker and the accused is being interrogated, the OC added.
