‘Complete immersion of goddess Durga before 8:00pm’
Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday urged the Hindu community to complete the immersion of goddess Durga before 8:00pm on Bijaya Dashami.
He also said special security arrangements will be taken to ensure the smooth observation of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The minister came up with the remark while addressing a meeting at the secretariat with the chiefs of the different law enforcing agencies and the leaders of puja celebration committee.
The law enforcers will take all-out measures to maintain country’s law and order situation from September 26 to September 30 so that the Hindu community can celebrate Durga Puja with festive mood and much enthusiasm, he said.
Some 30,077 puja mandops will be set up throughout the country including 231 in the capital, said Asaduzzaman.
The Home boss asked the law enforcers to install CCTV surveillance system at the big mandaps of the capital and set up metal detector machines on the entrance of all mandops of the country to ensure full-proof security.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will set up a control room at Dhakeshwari Temple for the entire city while another will be opened at the office of Inspector General of Police to control the security arrangements of the whole country, said Khan.
Besides, each puja celebration committee will form particular committee in every area of the country, the minister added.
Some 1,68,000 Ansar members will also be deployed across the country alongside police and other law enforcing agencies to ensure the smooth celebration, he said.
He also asked them not to play any musical instrument during Azan, burn flares and taking drugs at puja mandops.
