SCBA for army deployment at Rohingya camps
Dhaka: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Sunday demanded deployment of army at the Rohingya refugee camps for proper distribution of relief materials among them.
SCBA President Zainul Abedin came up with the demand at a press conference at the SCBA Bhaban auditorium.
The large number of Rohingya refugees, who fled persecution in Myanmar, is not getting relief properly for lack of coordination in the distribution, he said.
Zainul said although different countries, political parties, agencies and general people responded to the humanitarian crisis with relief materials for Rohingyas, mismanagement in the distribution is hampering the process.
Besides, many Rohingyas, including women and children, are getting injured while receiving the aid as hundreds swoop on the vehicles loaded with relief items, he said.
The SCBA president also claimed that many injured Rohingya women and children are not getting necessary food and medicines. "Army will bring discipline in the distribution process."
SCBA also urged the Myanmar government to immediately stop the brutal killing of its nationals in Rakhine State.
SCBA Vice-president Md Waziulah and General Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon also spoke at the press conference.
