3 vehicles set ablaze in city
Dhaka: miscreants set fire to three vehicles, including two buses, in different parts of the city on Sunday morning on the first day of the fresh 72-hour nationwide hartal, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance alongside its ongoing countrywide indefinite transport blockade.
Witnesses said pickets set fire to a BRTC bus near at Rayerbagh under Jatrabari Police Station around 9:10am and managed to flee the scene.
Another bus was torched under Gulistan flyover near Nagarbhaban at the same time.
On information, fire brigades rushed in and doused the flames. None was injured in either of the arson attacks.
Meanwhile, miscreants set fire to a stationary microbus in the city’s Dhanmondi area at about 11:15am.
Dhanmondi thana police confirmed the incident.
Earlier, at least 10 vehicles were torched and 19 others vandalised in different parts of the capital, Narayanganj and Laxmipur on Saturday evening on the eve of the fresh 72-hour nationwide hartal.
