AL leader hacked dead in Jessore

Jessore: A former UP member and local Awami League (AL) leader was hacked to death at Bakra Dikdana field in Jikargachha upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased is Siddiqur Rahman, about 45 years old, a former member of Bakra union parishad, vice-president of the union unit AL.
Sikdar Matiar Rahman, in-charge of Bakra Police Investigation Centre, said some unidentified miscreants stabbed Siddiqur around 7:30pm while he was going to Bakra Bazar, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took him to Jessore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Dr Bazlur Rashid Tulu, a resident physician at the hospital, said several injury marks were found on the body.
Sheikh Abu Saleh Masud Karim, officer-in-charge of Jikargachha Police Station, said the motive behind the killing could not be known yet.
