Burning Children Alive: Man sent to jail

Jhenaidah: Iqbal Hossain, who reportedly burned three children alive, was sent to jail on Tuesday after he had confessed to his crimes before a court of Jhenaidah Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin.
Iqbal killed his three nephews—Shiplu, 10, Mostafa Amin, 8, and Mahim, 12—by locking them inside a room and setting it afire at Kabirpur village in Shailakupa upazila of the district on Sunday evening over a family dispute, reported a news agency.
Police arrested Iqbal following the incident on Sunday night while Delwar Hossain filed a case with the Shailakupa police on Monday, accusing Iqbal in this connection.
The police placed the accused before the court at about 1:00pm and he made his confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
After recording the confessional statement, the court sent him to jail.
Earlier on Monday, Iqbal confessed to police that he killed his three nephews.
He told police that he tied the eyes, mouths and hands of the children and started beating them with a hammer in their heads.
Later, he sprayed gas into the house from a cylinder kept at the kitchen and set the house on fire after locking it from outside, police said.
Iqbal Hossain, a Bangladeshi national who worked in Singapore for livelihood, returned home five months ago.
He had been at loggerheads with his brother Delwar Hossain, a schoolteacher, over family matters.
