18 held en route to India illegally

Benapole: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 18 Bangladeshis while they were attempting to cross into India illegally through Putkhali border point in Benapole on Wednesday night. Reports UNB.

The arrestees are Rahim Miah, Arifa Khatun, Julfiker Ali, Afijul Islam, Rezaul Islam, Abdus Salam, Bibekananda, Abdul Jabbar, Rasel Hossain, Uzzal Hasen, Bhagabati Das, Bedona Rani, Rakhi Rani, Sabita Rani, Raju Ahmed, Asif Rahman, Nurul Islam, and Suruj Miah.

They are residents of different areas of Jessore, Barisal and Narail.

Golam Ahmed, Subeder of Putkhali camp of Khulna BGB Battalion 21, said on secret information, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area at night and arrested the 18 Bangladeshis, including five women, who were trying to go to India without valid documents.

Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station.

A case was filed in this connection.
