Dhaka:  A newborn baby was found alive after it was dumped in a plastic bag at a trash bin in Khilgaon area of Dhaka in the early hours of morning.

The baby was rescued by Shahinur Begum, a resident of a building at Chowdhurypara area of Khilgaon.

Shahiunur Begum said she discovered a plastic bag into the messy dustbin near her building and saw a cat tried to open the bag. She noticed that something was moving inside the bag. She found a new born baby when she opened the trash bag.

Shahinur took the baby to her house and washed it. She took the infant to Khilgaon Khidmah Hospital. Later, she shifted the child to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s Neonatal ward.

Dhaka Medical College Police Post Sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the Khilgaon police and Shahinur brought a newborn baby to the hospital. It is now receiving treatment at the Neonatal ward.
