Monirul made ambassador to Ethiopia, Laila to Morocco
Dhaka: The government has appointed Monirul Islam as the ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and assigned Sultana Laila Hossain to replace him in Morocco.
Monirul belongs to the 10th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre and is currently serving as Bangladesh ambassador to Morocco, said Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) quoting a foreign ministry source.
Earlier, he served as a consul general in New York. He also served in Bangladesh missions in Madrid, Beijing, Singapore and Ottawa in different capacities.
He was also director general (East Asia and Pacific) in the ministry of foreign affairs.
Monirul obtained MSS degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka and also an MA in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Monash University, Australia. In personal life, he is married and blessed with a son.
Meanwhile, Sultana Laila Hossain, currently the Consul General in Bangladesh Consulate General at Los Angeles, USA, as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Morocco.
She will replace Ambassador Monirul Islam.
Laila Hossain, in her diplomatic career, earlier served in Bangladesh missions in New Delhi and Yangon in different capacities.
She also worked as director general (consular & welfare) in the ministry.
