Dhaka: Bangladeshi diplomat Maushumi Rahman will join Bangladesh Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal as its Counselor next week.

Maushumi who worked as Counselor Political at the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan is scheduled to reach Lisbon on Thursday night, Foreign Ministry sources said.

Earlier, Pakistan ‘requested’ Bangladesh to withdraw Maushumi from Islamabad without showing any valid reason, an attempt which was ‘incomprehensible’ to Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Pakistan media launched ‘propaganda’ against her with ‘fabricated’ information, said the source.

On December 23, Pakistani diplomat and Second Secretary (Political) at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka Fareena Arshad who was reportedly involved in financing militancy left here for Islamabad following her withdrawal.
