Municipal polls: ‘Awami League wins, not people’
Though Awami League has won the 30 December municipal polls, it does not reflect public support for the party, says BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Rizvi came up with this remark at a press briefing in Rajshahi city BNP office on Saturday.
‘The government snatched win in the 30 December polls. Awami League won the elections but people were defeated through vote rigging,’ said Rizvi.
Rizvi urged the Election Commission to hold fair elections on 12 January in the municipalities where elections were postponed.
‘The government, with the help of various agencies, has become desperate for AL-backed candidates’ win in the municipalities were elections were postponed. BNP-backed candidates are not being able to conduct electioneering in those areas,’ alleged Rizvi.
