Dhaka: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam on Saturday said it is very unlikely for Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha to join office again as he faces 11 specific allegations, including 'moral turpitude and corruption'.

"Given the reality, his (CJ's) rejoining a far cry," the attorney general said while talking to reporters at his office in the evening.

Replying to a query, he said the Chief Justice automatically breaches the oath of office if the evidence of any offence is found against him.

About the statement issued by the Supreme Court earlier in the day, the chief state law officer said it was necessary to dispel the confusion centring the leave of SK Sinha.

The Chief Justice had no other option but to take leave as the Appellate Division judges had refused to sit with him following the specific allegations against him, he said adding that all the documentary evidence of the allegations are now lying with law enforcers.

Mahbubey Alam said acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah will be able to perform all kinds of judicial activities as per 97 section of the Constitution.

Earlier in the day, an SC statement said five Appellate Division judges had declined to conduct the judicial activities together with Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha as there are 11 specific allegations, including ,moral turpitude and corruption', against him, the Supreme Court said on Saturday.

An SC statement signed by its Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam said there are 'documentary evidence of the allegations'.

It also termed the statement issued by SK Sinha while leaving his residence for Australia on Thursday night confusing.
