Three people were killed and 12 others injured when a truck ploughed through a shop in Dheerasram rail crossing area in Gazipur on Sunday.

The deceased are shop owner Hasan Ali, 70, his eight-month-old grandson Jubayer, and another Moslem Uddin, 65.

The injured were treated at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital.

Joydebpur police officer-in-charge Razaul Hasan said the accident took place when a truck ploughed through a shop and fell into a ditch after destroying two other shops. Twelve workers of several apparel factories around were injured.

The driver fled and work is on to rescue the truck, added the OC.
