Dhaka: The re-voting in 51 polling stations of 20 municipalities, where balloting was postponed following anomalies and violence on 30 December, will be held on Tuesday.

The balloting will be held from 8:00am to 4:00pm without any break.

All the election materials, including ballot papers, translucent ballot boxes and irremovable inks, have already been sent to the polling stations, Election Commission Secretariat assistant secretary Rajib Ahsan told UNB on Monday.

During the 30 December election to 234 municipalities, the EC cancelled voting in Madhabdi municipality of Narsingdi halfway through and postponed balloting in some election centres in 19 other municipalities.

Of the 51 polling stations, 12 are in Madhabdi, 10 in Chaumuhani of Noakhali, four in Syedpur of Nilphamari, three each in Thakurgaon, Jamalpur and Chandanaish of Chittagong, and two each in Ulipur of Kurigram and Kalkini of Madaripur.

Besides, voting in one polling station was postponed each in Barura of Comilla, Bhaluka of Mymensingh, Kalia of Narail, Kuakata of Patuakhali, Sarishabari of Jamalpur, Nagarkanda of Faridpur, Matlab of Chandpur, Shariatpur, Barguna and Betagi of Barguna, Jessore and Narsingdi.

The re-voting will decide public representatives in seven mayoral posts and 72 councillor posts.
