Ruling party men behind question paper leak: BNP

Dhaka: Describing the question paper leak as a ‘killer disease’ in the country’s education sector, BNP on Sunday alleged that influential ruling party men are behind it.

Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also alleged that a deep-rooted plot is on to destroy the country’s education system to turn Bangladesh into a subservient country.

“Question paper leakage has now become like a killer disease in Bangladesh’s education sector. It’s spreading like cancer. This menace can’t be stopped as influential ruling party leaders have link with it. No one involved with question paper leakage has so far been tried as they belong to the ruling party,” he said.

The BNP leader also alleged that question papers of public university admission tests and that of medical and dental, and different job tests, SSC, HSC, JSC and PEC exams have been repeatedly got leaked during Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid’s time over the last 10 years.

The arrest of two Chhatra League leaders, among 15 others, in connection with Dhaka University’s ‘D Unit’ admission test question paper leak is a glaring example of ruling party men’s involvement in such unethical act.

Reacting to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s comment that BNP is having a sweet dream of returning to power after the party’s meeting with the Election Commission, Rizvi said it is Awami League which is daydreaming of holding an Awami League-style election again using the Commission.

He also said Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s comment on the county’s ‘surprising’ development has no similarity with the reality.

The BNP leader said the country has been developed in such a way that the Dhaka city got inundated with just two days’ rains. “Most highways and roads of the country have got dilapidated. People have to endure immense sufferings on roads due to traffic tailbacks on the rundown roads.”

He also said the rate of unemployment is the highest in Bangladesh among the south Asian countries. Development means not only the infrastructure development. It means strengthening democracy and ensuring the rule of law. The current government has obliterated the rule of law with resorting to terrorism, widespread corruption and grabbing.”
